Lyn Chase:
SpiritWars is COMING BACK!!!  The contract with the programmer will be signed in the next few days and then I'll have more news for you.  It has been 4.5 years since Randy died, and I've tried many times to make this happen.  This time it looks like it will!  The programmer has already reviewed the code and a plan is in place.

A SPECIAL NOTE to those of you who made suggestions to change the design or model:  Randy was committed to a fair and level playing field rather than a model that gives a player with more money an advantage.  We will be keeping the subscription model rather than selling spirits.

The stories that some of you have posted here on the message board about what SpiritWars meant to you have meant a great deal to me.  I have carried your stories in my heart as I've grieved.  I've been learning to live a different life than the one I had with Randy.  It's been hard work and a lonely journey.  I am excited that I will have the SpiritWars family to surround me once again.
                   Love, Lyn

Psyclone:
OMG!!!!  This is great news and I'm glad to hear that you are staying with the subscription format.  Where do I sign up?!?!?!?  ;D

I've probably tried at least 100+ CCG's on the internet since SpiritWars went offline and none of them are close to as good as SpiritWars.  The one thing I really appreciated about SpiritWars compared to all these other CCG's is that it wasn't pay-to-win or whoever plays the most and collects the most cards wins.  Rare and ultra rare cards, dieties, etc. were actually rare and you didn't play against 15-20 of them every game. There were positive and negative migrations so each player's card collection was dynamic and frequently changing which helped the game to stay fresh.

Lyn, let me be the first of many people to say...

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to you and your family for not giving up and keeping Randy's creation alive. Randy was a great guy that I was fortunate enough to get to know online and play several games against.

I can't even tell you how excited I am to hear this news! I've missed Spirit Wars a lot, and am really glad it's coming back!!  ;D I've recently started up a blog, and would be thrilled to death to post some sort of announcement there (and all over other social media sites) about Spirit Wars (after the kinks are worked out, if you wish). The more people sitting in the room to potentially play against, the better! Really looking forward to this!

Bret:
Hello there everyone.  I wanted to reply to this thread and let everyone know.

This afternoon, Lyn and I signed the contract!  You don't know me, but I'm the engineer that Lyn has been in touch with.

I have never played SpiritWars or any other card game either online or in person (I'm assuming solitaire doesn't count).

I will post some more information shortly, but I wanted to let you know that as of now I'm on the job so to speak.  I hope to have something online to begin a public beta test within the next 3 weeks or so, or maybe even sooner.

The public beta will initially go online pretty much just as it was before it went offline.  Then we will start working on some of the issues and bugs in the game before bringing it totally live.

Stay tuned for more information.

Want to know more about me?  Stay tuned for that also.

Bret

Psyclone:
Hello Bret and welcome to SpiritWars!  :)

And most of all, thanks for taking on this project. I'm sure a lot of people will love to hear the great news and will be looking forward to the beta test.
